Too much stuff? A Victorian Warehouse could be the solution

The latest terrain piece to roll off the Battleshed production line is a Victorian warehouse from Sarissa Precision's Gaslamp Alley Victorian SF range.  See, I do sometimes apply a bit of paint!

 

The Martians are coming!

Doh! Just as I thought my shopping list was all set for Carronade '15 on Saturday - the annual wargaming show from Falkirk and District wargames club - an enticing free, 17 page supplement has been added to the In Her Majesty's Name Bonus material page, The Martian Invasion!

For me, this hits the sweet spot - VSF and aliens! I can see another burst of miniature purchasing coming on.

I've always been a big fan of the original HG Wells book, along with the various film, TV, radio, musical and genre literature produced over the years. Incoming - latest additions to the Battleshed

After a couple of hours in the Battleshed breathing in that heady mix of laser-cut MDF and PVA glue, three more scenery models have been added to my collection. These were the Sarissa Precision kits that I bought back in February whilst at Vapnartak, the York Wargames show. 

The first two (left to right in picture below) are from Sarissa's 28mm Sc-Fi range - the 'Command Pod - Communications' and the 'Hanger and Strong Point Landing Pod Top'. The third model is from their Old West range, the 'Wind Water Pump'.

The two Sci-Fi buildings were bought with plans for them to be incorporated into a VSF terrain board for In Her Majesty's Name. Various sections from the buildings can be swapped out - for example the Strong Point landing Pod Top can be swapped with the Communications Pod.

Now I've finally got these buildings put together I'm forming ideas about how to progress this board. Add in a few Victorian buildings and a bit of painting and customization and I've got the Headquarters for Lord Curr's Q-Division laboratories, manufacturing and testing area. That hanger is just asking for a good VSF Blimp model! 

The Wind Water Pump is destined for my Dead Man's Hand town, Obsession. It already has a Water Tower but I liked the water pump so much I had to have it! I think it'll be a fine addition.

Vapnartak 2015

Vapnartak! The annual trade show organised by York Wargames Society. For the second year running my brother-in-law, JGL, and I made the trip south of the Scottish Border to the historical city of York. We were keen to repeat the successful gamer's road trip from last year, so once again I found myself in JGLs car, casually flicking through the latest Miniature Wargames magazine and wondering why JGL’s iPod defaulted to Abba’s Dancing Queen…

Like last year, we decided to make it a leisurely trip. An excuse for a long weekend of table top gaming culture and beer. A wonderful combination and highly recommended! There are a number of similarly great shows in Scotland but sometimes you just need an excuse for a ‘boys’ weekend. We travelled down on Saturday 31^st January after the morning’s four-way game of Saga at Livingston Battleground, arriving at the Holgate Bridge B&B in the early evening. The accommodation was perfect for this trip – very reasonably priced and within easy walking distance of York city centre and the racecourse where Vapnartak was being held.
