Ramming Speed with a chariot?!

A welcome return to further play testing of the Faustus Furius chariot racing rules in the Battleshed last night. With a few more rule tweaks and the addition of optional rules providing a race variation with more 'historical context' - or hard-core racing - the chariots were once again put through their paces.

Meanwhile, at a secret ancient test circuit...

Sporting news. The latest entry to the growing list of ancient chariot teams qualifying for the Optimus Maximus World Cup has been announced. The charioteers are currently going through their paces, rattling round a so far undisclosed circuit practising the placement of tactical devices such as caltrops, amphora full of olive oil and generally anything to thwart the opposition and please the Mob.

This Assyrian team, (Caesar Miniatures, 1/72), have joined the race list under the experimental 'Heavy Archer' class for the continuing play-test of the forthcoming rule-set Faustus Furius from Irregular Wars.

Over the last couple of weeks I've had four teams of ancient charioteers going through their paces play-testing Faustus Furius, new Ancient chariot racing rules in development from Nic Wright over at Irregular Wars. And what devilishly good fun its been!

The paint is still drying on my Mitannian Mariyannu chariots.
Now say that three times, fast!
As is the paint on a couple of Hittite chariots.
Four ancient chariots? Yep, an unusual diversion for me!
